The PreCollege of the Basel Music Academy is primarily aimed at students from the region of Northwestern Switzerland and the neighbouring countries of Germany, France and Italy. • You should have been taught in your main subject for several years by a qualified teacher who recommends you for the programme on the basis of your outstanding talent.
• To participate in the PreCollege programme, you must be resident in Basel or one of the neighbouring Swiss cantons.
• The PreCollege is a full-time programme.
• The language of instruction is German; therefore, German language skills of at least  A1 level are required.
• A video presenting two works from different eras must be submitted before enrolment.

• In order to study in Switzerland, you need a confirmation of admission from the Basel Music Academy. With this confirmation, depending on your nationality, you can apply for a visa or residence permit at the embassy responsible for your country of residence.
• If your application is approved by the authorities in Switzerland, the requirements for your entry and your study-related stay have been met.
