Heinz Holliger – Räume

Heinz Holliger has created many different spaces: as an oboist, sometimes also a pianist, a celebrated virtuoso, increasingly as a composer, but also as a university teacher, conductor, and a organizer. His universality as a musician is deeply rooted in a bourgeois educational background. On the other hand, his oeuvre is based on the search for the dissolution of boundaries, for new 'spaces'. A small exhibition at the Vera Oeri library tries to at least lay trails to such ‹spaces› that have grown into a ‹cosmos› of their own. Fokus Holliger, the Basel Festival on his 80th birthday, offers the occasion and context for this exhibition.
